The Power of Storytelling

The Power of Storytelling

Wednesday, March 13, 2024 (10:00 AM - 11:00 AM) (EDT)

Description

Storytelling is perhaps our greatest asset. The way we share stories has allowed humanity to develop and flourish over the past millennium. Focusing not only on what we do but why we do it, and communicating the essence of that why, can align anyone with their ideal target audience and community. The Power of Storytelling will cover the core tenants of what creates a compelling story, and how brands can utilize storytelling to present the best version of themselves. The goal of this workshop is to help organizations connect further on an authentic level with both themselves and the world around them.

The audience will be inspired to rethink, re-imagine, and re-sculpt their own story in addition to that of their business. They will walk away with a fresh perspective on how effective storytelling can allow anyone to resonate better with their audience and community. The workshop will also focus on digital storytelling in the 21st century and the best ways to reach audiences in a fast-paced and ever-changing world.

We are thankful to the Junior League of Boca Raton for sponsoring this important training.

About the Presenter

Sami Kattan is a filmmaker & entrepreneur. With two parents in the medical field, his family spent their formative years abroad which exposed him to many different cultures and perspectives at a young age. He chose to study Anthropology in college at the University of Florida, and upon graduating with honors, Kattan spent two years traveling throughout Central America. It was here that his love for telling stories was born, inspired by a snorkel with a 45-foot whale shark named 'Old Tom' off of the Caribbean island of Utila. To be able to capture and communicate this moment of awe with others, he picked up a 1st edition GoPro and taught himself how to be a filmmaker.

His passion naturally flourished into a career and from the onset of his business he set out to tell the stories of individuals and organizations working to make the world a better place. He specializes in documentary filmmaking: conveying compelling narratives in a human-centered manner that deeply & emotionally connects with audiences. He has traveled the globe telling inspiring stories and his client list includes National Geographic, BBC, Vice, the Discovery Channel, Spartan Race Inc., and the USDA.

Today he is based in Jupiter, FL where he has run Nomad Creative for 10 years. One of the greatest joys of his career thus far has been helping non-profits raise tens of millions of dollars for their causes through his films, and getting to witness the transformation created when the missions of these organizations are fully experienced by their audiences. In his free time he enjoys traveling the world and taking time to decompress through yoga and outdoor activities. Fun fact - the only continent he has not filmed on is Oceania, which he hopes to visit one day soon as he is a huge Lord of the Rings fan!
